Bunbun Saves The World

Bunbun Saves The World was made in 48 hours during the 2018 GMTK Game Jam. Game Jams are events where the goal is to build a game in 48 hours around a to-be-announced theme. The theme of this jam was “Genre without mechanic.” In essence, the goal was to make a game that lacked a core feature specific to that genre. Jacob Knaup and I created Bunbun Saves The World as our entry.
Our project was designed around the classic “Beat ’em Up” genre but without combat. Instead of fighting, the player has to run away from enemies and press buttons to trigger chaotic power-ups. The game features 1 complete level and 4 special abilities.
Bunbun features a lot of free visual and audio assets. The scripts were all made during the jam. This entry was ranked as #218 out of over one thousand entries. Additionally, the entry was in the top 50 most rated games in the jam. This places the game in the top 21% of games made during the jam.
